As the sun sets on the Rio Hotel……I took these shots of the large Las Vegas hotel off the strip.Ryan T. Husk invited me to the Renegades room party (or donors/cast/crew) on Friday night.Fan film (and Hollywood) actor Rico Anderson at the Renegades partyThe guy on the left is wearing a Renegades uniform, but the guy on the right is Alec Peters at the Axanar room party. See? Fan films can get along after all!The Axanar room party was five floors directly under the Renegades party…and they were going on at the same time!Alec Peters signed this cadet’s Starfleet Academy yearbook.For a moment, I really thought this guy was Spock’s half-brother Sybok!And here’s the Klingon kontingent…Q’pla!Klingons look so awesome in red, don’t they?Klingons of all shapes and sizes met in the lobby for a group photo.This one’s a dancer in real life…I didn’t want to wake her up!An Enterprising family from CaliforniaWho says you can’t Winn in Vegas?Yes, the dress on the left actually lit up!

They were AWESOME! That’s Bjo Trimble and Rod Roddenberry in the center.Spock out, baby!Sons of Trek: Rod Roddenberry and Chris Doohan get down and get funky on Saturday night.Fan film fun! Lao of Trek.fm, and Alec Peters of Axanar.So this half-Vulcan science officer walks into a bar…Admit it, you would SO love to step through that door!The MAC Cosmetic circular booth was amazing!Inside the booth, you could beam down on the transporter.A few times each day, Spock and Uhura would come out for a brief performance.
Uhura would sing her two songs from “Charlie X” while Spock played the Vulcan lyre.
Renegades lives!!! Ryan Rusk and Rico Anderson…two of the fittest actors in fan filmdom!She’s…Deltan.And with that, I’d now seen every Starfleet uniform from every era of Star Trek canon (and even soem non-canon stuff, too!).So here’s the 40-story Rio hotel tower……and what’s that way at the top?Is it some kind of ride?Hey, yeah…it’s a zip-line ride!The zip line goes between the two Rio towers……and starts right outside my goddam hotel window! (Every three minutes I’d hear screaming and then see two pairs of legs speeding in front of my window.)A final sunset shot of the two Rio towers from my 32nd floor hotel room…my last night in Vegas.Remember how I said you couldn’t walk onto the bridge set unless you paid to have your photo taken?Well, guess what?I went to take one last look before the convention ended…And the replica owner was letting people walk on and take pictures…for free!!!Right place, right time. Live long and prosper, everyone!
