First TRAILER for DISCOVERY S2 shows NEW STARFLEET UNIFORMS!

And for people who are geo-blocked (and why the heck would they do that?)…

Thoughts?

  1. Why are they quoting lines from ST;TOS? It is apparent that besides ST;D being in a totally different timeline, some of the characters are yet to even be born.

    1. They only just started shooting. There’s no usable dialog from season 2 yet. So they used existing clips. That said, I think the incorporation of the closer-to-TOS uniform styles indicates that the show-runners now realize how far they missed the mark by going with those sparkly “disco” Discovery uniforms. They know they screwed up, and now they’re trying to fix things. Can they? We’ll see. There’s a lot to fix, if you ask me.

      1. I don’t remember any dialog about Axanar or the subsequent battle. is this supposed to be in that time period? Stardates are so jacked up. I didn’t realize this was set so close to ST;TOS time frame.

        1. I’m not sure if Discovery will be dealing with the battle of Axanar. Discovery takes place about 10 years after the Four Years War depicted in Prelude to Axanar ended.

      2. I don’t think they will get it right?, who is going to do this any way ?, Parmount studio?, or cbs?, Netflix lost $9.000.000.00 for the FIRST film and no one like it why are they trying to do film number 2? It is no better is it?, they will lose a lot of money for junk film. I could do much better.

      3. And if you ask lots of us, there is not much to improve and they just need to continue on the excellent path that they started.

          1. Not always, Ed. The differences between seasons one and two of TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise were pretty negligible–same uniforms, same sets (maybe adding a new set like Ten Forward or adding a second floor to engineering), and mostly the same characters (TOS added Chekov, TNG swapped out Dr. Crusher for Dr. Pulaski). For the most part, seasons one and two were pretty much on the same page. Season two of Discovery? We shall see!

      1. Not sure it’s a majority…or if it is, that it’s not a razor thin margin. I see a lot of negative posts about Discovery from a lot of people who actually watched it. Yep, there’s positive comments, too, but I’m not sure there’s a way to tell if one or the other group is a majority.

That said, less than half a million Trek fans are watching Discovery in America on All Access. In order for that to be a majority, that’d mean there are less than a million Star Trek fans total in America. I’m not sure that’s the case. Personally, I think there’s about 3-5 million.

        1. Let’s not delude ourselves into thinking that the volume of people commenting online either way represents the entirety of the fandom.

          1. Nope. But the subscriber numbers are pretty solid. At best, 2.5 million people MIGHT be watching Discovery. However, the number of actual accesses to the episodes via All Access is closer to 300,000 (don’t ask me how I know that). Granted, they might be many more accesses via Netflix and through illegal downloads. But I don’t think the majority of fans are watching the new series.

  2. Something is weird with the not geoblocked video… I see it, a friend of mine not. Even in the Code of the side (yes, we were curious) the lines were not found. Both from germany… Jonathan, what is going on here? 😀

      1. Maybe it’s just a bug 🙂 Like I said, I did. But my friend not, but thanks to skype I could let him see it 😀

  3. To quote Bill Murray in “Stripes!”

“It’s not the uniforms. It’s the stories you tell!”

Sadly, the stories of Star Trek: Discovery, and the way the are being told just don’t interest me.
